Growers
A high altitude of 1,700 meters above sea level, combined with Nyeri’s nutrient-rich volcanic soil, create the ideal conditions for farmers delivering cherry to Kaiguri station.  Farmers typically cultivate only around 200 - 500 trees on their smallholdings, along with other produce for their own subsistence. Ripe cherries are selectively handpicked by the growers and delivered it to the washing station, where, after further sorting, they are added straight to the hopper and pulped. The coffee is then fermented and then washed in clean water to remove any remaining mucilage. The beans are then moved to raised beds to finish drying over the course of approximately 2 weeks, during which they are turned regularly and covered at the hottest of the day and overnight.
