Fazenda São Lucas, near Ribeirão Corrente in the State of São Paulo, Brazil, is farmed by the sixth generation of coffee growers. Lucas Lancha de Oliveira opted to follow in his parents’ footsteps, studying agriculture and becoming an agronomist. Lucas’ dynamism and knowledge have contributed greatly to the farm and the quality of the coffee it is producing. Sao Lucas is UTZ and Rainforest Alliance Certified, testament to the high standards maintained on the farm, from the careful handpicking of the beans to the use of natural fertilisers produced by the farm’s own small herd of cattle, kept primarily for this purpose. The geographical area of the farm is blessed with an abundant supply of freshwater, it is near the town Ribeirao Corrente – meaning ‘Flowing Waters’. It is situated in the region of Alta Mogiana, at an altitude of 1020 above sea level and has 50 hectares of preserved rainforest. We are pleased to be forging strong links with the Sao Lucas farm through a direct trade model.
Our Fazenda São Lucas beans have been medium roasted to create a balanced, deliciously smooth, chocolatey and nutty coffee through the espresso machine and also produce a delicious cup through the French Press.
