Lorenzo Cruz Garcia, owner of the Vista Hermosa farm in the Peruvian Highlands, is a founding member of the Union y Fe cooperative. The social enterprise organisation was created in 2014 with the aim of helping smallholder farmers from one of Peru’s most impoverished districts to find sustainable markets for their coffee and improve their livelihoods. Today, together with the 220 members of the organisation, he is transforming the co-op’s coffee through training, quality control and the use of innovative solar drying in greenhouses, overcoming the obstacles of drying in the challenging humid conditions in this area of the Andes. Separated from the organisation’s group lots due to its exceptional quality, this micro-lot is from Lorenzo’s own meticulously maintained Vista Hermosa plantations. Roasted medium, we recommend filter brewing for tastes of sugary dried fruit, cherries and slight florals.
